Treatment Centers Using Buprenorphine In Alabama

Every opiate user is looking in a way to get off of the drugs they are taking, and for many, it can be a very painful and difficult experience to go through. There are detox centers and treatment facilities all throughout the state of Alabama, and many of the facilities are fully capable of helping opiate addicts successfully come off of the drugs they are taking. Some of the treatment centers throughout the state use a drug called Buprenorphine, which is a drug that is used to treat opioid dependency by helping to prevent withdrawal symptoms, stopping the effects of opioids, and preventing overdoses from occurring. This drug is generally taken once a day in treatment or outside of treatment as directed by a doctor, and is a tablet that is dissolved under the tongue.

The prescribing doctor will give a dose that is usually based on the person’s medical condition, but it is important not to increase that dose. After the first couple days of use, a doctor will put a patient on a maintenance program where they will be taking the drug every day, or during the course of their treatment program. This method is effective in helping opiate addicts go through the withdrawals and not have to experience large amounts of pain.
