Nugen’s Ranch was founded in the 1980s and was one of the first long-term alcohol treatment programs within Alaska. Established in 1979, Alaska Family Services offers help to women and children in crisis and does operate as a domestic violence and sexual assault shelter. There are numerous services provided in the center for women and children, which does include family counseling, parenting workshops, and residential programs for youth at risk.
