Some students in Iowa, when they go to university, think that they can start drinking, even though it’s not actually legal since they’re not over the legal age. When a few students got caught drinking excessively and acting very intoxicated in a public place, they were punished accordingly. They were not allowed to stay part of the football team and the penalty for drinking alcohol on campus while underage was a big amount of community work.

Although some people have excessively rough experiences with alcohol, a study shows that adolescent can get over the effects of alcohol at a faster rate than older people.

A study of 4 years on 200 college students resulted that those who drink heavily and started it at an early age demonstrate poor decision-making abilities, just like long-term, chronic alcoholics. University of Missouri-Columbia Researchers believe early onset binge drinking have negative effects on their psychological development.
