Alcoholism Kentucky

Although Kentucky has seen an upsurge in the number of deaths on the road, less and less of them have alcohol to blame. Not even a third of them were related to drunk driving, that’s according to the National drunk driving statistics in the US. All and all alcohol is that big of a problem, but there are still more than 200 000 people addicted to it as we speak.

Law enforcement of Kentucky has noticed that a lot of university students actually drink too much alcohol too often. So now the Alcohol Beverage Control is going on a rampage on campus to control drinking laws. They are going to make sure the drinking age law is respected and that surrounding establishments don’t serve alcohol to minors. The ABC is really trying to make a difference when it comes to underage drinking and the incidents related to it.

Alcohol abuse information

If a woman drinks alcohol during her pregnancy, the alcohol actually goes straight to the foetus and can affect it. It actually hinders the development of the foetus and damages the cells of the nervous system and so the woman can sometimes experience birth defect and such. It is very dangerous for woman to continue drinking alcohol when they are pregnant.

The 2006 survey from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, indicated a stable range in drinking habits, with about 50.9% of the population reported as alcohol drinkers, about 20% binge drinkers and about 7% listed as heavy drinkers.
