At New Bridges, we provide affordable and traditional treatment of substance abuse. At New Bridges, we specialize in helping individuals struggling with dual diagnosis issues (for example: alcoholism and depression/anxiety) and multiple relapse. The disease of chemical dependency impacts on the addicted individual and their family, affecting persons emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually and socially. Recovery and restoration to a meaningful and productive lifestyle can be achieved through the application of a specific treatment orientation based upon the following guidelines:
1. The disease of chemical dependency is a treatable illness whose progression is predictable and whose symptoms are discernible.
2. In the course of treatment, abstinence from all mood-altering substances (except for legitimate psychotropic purposes) is necessary to begin and sustain recovery.
3. Treatment providers have a responsibility to educate their community on the disease of chemical dependency, to increase the understanding of the disease process and to assess individuals for the most appropriate level of treatment.
4. Because chemical dependency affects persons in all aspects of their lives, a holistic approach to treatment must focus on the emotional, mental, physical, spiritual and social aspects of the individual, their family and significant others, providing tangible skills to enhance their quality of life.
5. Treatment providers have an ethical and moral responsibility to offer treatment to individuals with dignity and respect in an environment conducive to increased self-awareness and self-worth, focusing on individualized needs in a milieu of skilled clinicians and a supportive recovering community.
6. A thorough orientation to the 12-Step recovery principles is essential to the treatment and recovery process for abuse/dependent individuals and families. We value the tradition, fellowship and support of the 12-Step programs.
7. Alcohol and drug abuse/dependency is a family illness and each family member becomes painfully entrapped in the progression of the illness. Recovery from chemical dependency is strongly influenced by the participation of family members and significant others in the treatment process. This is necessary in order to effect recovery for the individual patient and the family as a whole.
8. Treatment is most effective when there is a commitment to provide a continuum of care for the addicted individual and the family. We are dedicated and committed to providing a continuum of care, as well as, to collaborate and cooperate with other professionals, agencies, facilities and support groups within the community.
