DUI Alaska Drug & Alcohol Rehab Treatment

Drunk driving is a serious offense in Alaska, and there are consequences if you get arrested for doing just that. Legally, you are declared too drunk to drive when your BAC is of 0.08 percent or higher. Although some specialists state that a person with a BAC of .05 is already in too much of an impaired state to drive a vehicle properly.

There are also other penalties connected with drunk driving for special circumstances. In all of the following offense, your right to drive will be revoked by the state of Alaska. It is an offense to refuse to be submitted to a test. It is also a crime to drive with a BAC higher than .04 when you are operating a commercial vehicle. Also it is an offense to have any sort of alcohol in your system when you are under 21 years old and driving. Those mistakes could cost the driver their license for a certain period of time.

The first time you get caught drunk driving, you automatically get a sentence of 3 days in jail. This is accompanied by a fine of $1,500 and a license suspension of ninety days. If, within 10 years (which is the look-back period of time in Alaska), you get a second DUI offense, the fine is doubled and the mandatory jail time is 20 days and the offender`s license will be invalid for a whole year. A third offense of the same kind will cost the person his license for 3 years, plus 2 months of jail time and also $4,000. The people who get caught drunk driving for the fourth time get 5 years of license suspension and 120 days in jail. They also have to pay the state five thousand dollars.

If the offender still hasn't` learn his lesson and gets caught for a fifth time, the consequences go higher. $6,000. is what they will be charged, plus they will have to spend over 240 days in jail and the person won`t be allowed to drive for 5 years. A sixth offense will get you license revoked for another 5 years and you will have to spend close to a full year in prison (360 days to be exact), plus the offender will have a fine of $7,000. There are also laws for people addcited tp drugs.

It is very dangerous to drink and then drive and so the Alaska state laws don`t tolerate it.
