DUI Connecticut Drug & Alcohol Rehab Treatment

Connecticut laws are very precise as to what they consider illegal in terms of drunk driving. Of course, anybody who has a Blood Alcohol Content, usually measured by urine, breath or blood tests, of over .08% is consider impaired and has no legal right to drive. If you are under 21 years old and driving, your BAC has to be lower than .02% or else the driver could be convicted for DUI. There is also a different BAC legal limit for people who drive a commercial car, which is .04%.

The first time you get arrested for drunk driving in Connecticut, you will go to jail for at least 2 days automatically. The state officials can choose to put you in jail for 6 months if they feel the circumstances warrant it. You won’t be allowed to drive a vehicle for a whole year. Plus there is a fine of at least five hundred dollars, but that can also be increased up to a thousand dollars.

The second time you get caught with DUI charges, you will spend at least 120 days, but that can go to two years if the court says so. Your driver’s license will be revoked for a full year, but then after that you will have to have installed the ignition interlock device for a full 24 months. And this will cost you at least a thousand dollars, but the fine can also go up to four thousand dollars.

If you’re still playing with fire and get charged for a third time with drunk driving within 10 years of your first two offenses, big penalties will be suffered by you. The fine starts at a big amount, $2,000 to be precise, and it can even go to $8,000. You will be sent to jail for a minimum of a year and it can even go up to three years plus there will be 100 hours of community work. Your license will be revoked permanently in Connecticut. There are also some laws for people addicted to drug and alcohol that are driving while on the effect of it.
