DUI Louisiana Drug & Alcohol Rehab Treatment

Louisiana has strict maximum penalties for DUI first offenders. The maximum fine is a thousand dollars, plus any fee for legal procedures. It will go on the driver’s criminal record. The maximum jail time is 6 months and the license suspension is a maximum of 90 days. But if you are under 21 years old and get a DUI offense, the maximum license suspension would be six months.

The second DWI offense would get a 2 days mandatory jail time, but that could be extended to six months if the court sees fit to do so. The maximum fine can be up to a thousand dollars plus the additional costs. Their license could also be revoked for a full year.

The State of Louisiana considers the third DUI offense to be a felony, and it will cost the felon at least one year of his life in prison and this could get increased up to 5 years. The fine will be 2,000 dollars. His driver’s license will be revoked for two years. The offender will also have to be submitted to substance abuse treatment, 6 weeks of inpatient treatment and 12 months of outpatient treatment. The court will also request that he does 30 days of community service.

The fourth driving while impaired offense is a serious felony in Louisiana. The offender will go to jail for at least 75 days, but he could go to jail for up to thirty years. The maximum fine for this offense is 5,000 dollars. The revocation of the license would be for two years. The sentence when it comes to substance abuse treatment is the same as the third offense. Afterwards, the offender will go on probation and will have to perform 40 days of community service.  There are also some laws for people addicted to drugs that drives while on the effect of it.

Louisiana State is fighting against drunk driving and those laws are there to curb this epidemic.
