DUI Maine Drug & Alcohol Rehab Treatment
If a person drives a vehicle while being under the influence and gets caught for the first time, he will get a 500 dollar fine. He will be sent to jail for up to 90 days. After he is sentenced, his license will be revoked for 90 days at least. After the suspension, you will have a restricted license for a year. During that period of time, you cannot drive with any sort of amount of alcohol in the blood system.
If the offender gets a second DUI within ten years of the first one, the fine goes up by 200 dollars. The minimum jail time is a week and the maximum is an eighteen month period. His license will get annulled for at least a year and a half with no possibility of applying for restricted license privilege. Maine State officials will not even let you drive to work and back.
On the third offense within ten years of previous DUI offenses, the person will have to pay big time. The fine is 1,100 dollars plus the legal costs. The offender will also have to spend a mandatory month in jail, but that could be extended up to four years by the court. The offending driver will also be denied the right to drive for four years and he will not be allowed to appeal for work with a restricted license.
If the individual still hasn’t stopped driving while impaired and gets a fourth conviction, he will have to pay the state 2,100 dollars. He will have to spend six months in jail at least, and if the court deems it best, he could be put away for a maximum of 6 years. The driver’s license will be revoked for a period of six years with no possibility of appeal for restricted privilege license for work or any of those privileges.
Maine has some pretty strict laws when it comes to driving under the influence. Those laws apply for drivers who have a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or above. There is however a special law for people under the age of 21. This law is often referred to as the Zero Tolerance law. It states that if a person under 21 years old has any amount of alcohol in his system while driving, his license will be suspended for at least a year. There are also some laws for people addicted to drug and alcohol that are driving while on the effect of it.
