DUI Maryland Drug & Alcohol Rehab Treatment
In Maryland, there is a difference between a DUI charge and a DWI charge. The DWI charge will be applied to the driver if he has a Blood Alcohol Content of .07%. But if the driver is arrested with a BAC of .08% or more, he will be charged with a DUI. Both types of convictions have similar consequences but a DUI will be harder on the driver.
For a DWI, the first offense could get you up to two months in jail, and you will also have to pay 500 dollars. You won’t be allowed to drive for two months. The second conviction for a DWI will get your license suspended for another two months and the fine will be of $500, it is also possible that you could be sent to jail for a whole year. For the third DWI charge, the consequences will be the same as the second offense.
Your first DUI offense in Maryland will get you up to a full year in jail plus a thousand dollar fine. There is an extra penalty if at the time of the arrest, there was a minor in car with you. The time you could spend in jail would be up to two years and the fine could go up to two thousand dollars. Your license would be suspended for forty five days.
For the second DUI offense, the maximum jail time will be two years and the fine you would have to pay could be up to $2000. And under the special circumstances mentioned above (minor in the car), three years would be the maximum jail time and the fine could go up to three thousand dollars. Your driver’s license would be suspended for at least a year.
For the fourth DUI, the jail sentence could go up to three years and three thousand dollars will be the amount you will have to pay. And under special circumstance as mentioned above, the jail time would be four years and the fine would be of 4000 dollars. There are also some penalties for people addicted to drug and alcohol that are driving while on the effect of it.
