For the first offense in Massachusetts, the fine will be between five hundred and five thousand dollars. The jail time you could serve would be up to two and a half years and your driver’s license would be suspended for a year. But if you were transporting a child under fourteen years old, you will have to go to jail for at least 90 days and this could be extended for two and a half years. The fine would also increase to a thousand dollars with a maximum of five thousand dollars. Your driver’s license would still be suspended for a year.

The second drunk driving offense in this state, you will be arrested and sent to jail for at least a month and 2 years and a half. You also will not be allowed to drive for two years. There is also a fine you will have to pay, the amount of money will be between 600 dollars and 10 000 dollars. There is also a possibility that they will require you to install the ignition interlock device. If there was a young child in the car, you get charged for child endangerment. That could get you 90 days to two years and a half in prison plus a fine of $1,000 to $5,000. You won’t be allowed to drive for a year.

For the third DUI offense, the fine starts at a thousand dollars and it could go to over fifteen thousand dollars. The minimum jail time for you would be 150 days and the sentence could go up to two and half years. Also, you will not be allowed to drive for eight years for your license will be suspended. If you get charged for child endangerment at this point, the charges would be the same as in the paragraph above.

For your fourth DUI, the amount of money you will have to pay will be between 1,500 and 25,000 dollars. They take DUI charges very seriously in Massachusetts, so they won’t allow you to drive for ten years. You will also spend a full year in prison, and if the court sees fit, they could sentence you to up to three years of imprisonment.

The fifth drunk driving conviction will get you at least two years in jail. Actually, the court could even go up to five years in prison. The money you will have to pay also increases, the fine will be between two and fifty thousand dollars. Plus, the law officials will not permit you to drive for the rest of your life. There are also some laws for people addicted to drugs or alcohol that are driving while on the effect of it.
