DUI Michigan Drug & Alcohol Rehab Treatment

Michigan State has laws regarding drunk driving offense. This is called an DWI, Operating While Intoxicated, and this happens when a person is driving with a BAC of .08% or above. The fine that the offender will have to pay will be between a hundred and five hundred dollars. There is also a possibility that the court sentences you to a 360 hour period of community service. There will be a sentence of a maximum of 93 days. You won’t be allowed to drive for a month, and when this month is over you will be allowed to drive with certain restrictions. There will be a fee of a thousand dollars for two years.

If you get caught drunk driving a second time, it will cost you between 200 and 1,000 dollars. You will also have to spend a mandatory five days in jail. The court could sentence you for up to a full year plus you will have to do community service for 30 to 90 days. The state will take your license plate away and your license will be suspended for a year. You car will be confiscated for at least 90 days, and that period could be doubled.

If you still haven’t learned your lesson and get caught driving while under the influence for a 3rd time, the fine will be between five hundred and five thousand dollars. You might have to do community service for 60 to 180 days. You will also have to go to jail for one to five years. You will not be allowed to drive for five years and your car will be taken away for 1 to 3 years.

Basically, it is a very bad idea to drive while your BAC is over .08%. Of course, there is no sure way to know if your BAC is higher than the legal limit. Therefore, the safest way is to abstain from drinking when you know you have to drive later on. There are  laws for people addicted to drug and alcohol that are driving while on the effect of it.
