DUI Minnesota Drug & Alcohol Rehab Treatment

The first time you get charged for driving while under the influence in Minnesota, you will get fined a thousand dollars by the state and/or 3 months of jail time. Your driver’s license will be taken away for at least ninety days, but the court could decide to reduce the suspension down to thirty days if the offender decides to plead guilty for the charges. In order to get your license back, you will have to pay 680 dollars, perform a DWI test and an assessment.

The second time you get a drunk driving charge, you will lose your license for 180 days, and after 90 days you can get your license back with restrictions. You will have to also go through the necessary actions before you can get it back, such as paying the reinstatement fee, a DWI test, license application and substance assessment. You will have to go to jail for a year and/or pay a 3,000 dollar fine.

The third time you get caught drunk driving and get a conviction, the time in jail and/or the fine you will have to pay will be the same as the second offense. Your license will be taken away for a full year and you will have to go through the usual necessities to get it back. You will also have to attend an alcohol treatment program and afterwards you have to show that you cannot drink for a full year. And after you get your license back, you will be required lifetime abstinence from alcohol.

The fourth time you get caught drunk driving is considered a felony in the state of Minnesota. You will lose your driver’s license for four years and you will have to attend alcohol rehab or treatment. The abstinence condition also applies as in the third conviction. You could be sent to prison for up to seven years plus a fourteen thousand dollar fine. There are also some laws for people addicted to drug and alcohol that are driving while being intoxicated.
