Finding a residential drug rehab center can be a difficult task. Many people will try to make a decision when there is an emergency situation such as, overdose, legal trouble, or physical problems, which stem from the lifestyle of the addict. Families are often pressured to make a decision but, do not have the knowledge of what is the best treatment option. The families are too emotionally involved. So being able to talk to a counselor right away and getting the proper information is crucial. Addicted.org has access to a database of thousands of treatment facilities in the United States.

What should families take into consideration when deciding if their loved one needs an outpatient or a residential treatment setting?

  • The number of years the addict has been using
  • The quantity of drugs or alcohol used
  • How long the individual can go from drinking or using drugs
  • The lifestyle of the individual
  • The consequences of his or her lifestyle on their family, job, finances etc.
  • How unethical or immoral the individual has become
  • These are some of the main signs and behaviors, to decide if someone needs a residential rehab program.

    Residential Treatment

Residential drug rehab centers are in-house facilities where the individual will remain for the duration of his or her program. The length of treatment can vary from a couple of weeks to six months, and in some cases up to a year. The purpose of this type of treatment is for the individual to achieve complete sobriety, and not be tempted by their addiction. This gives the individual enough time to address any underlying issues caused by their past alcohol and drug use.

The cost of a residential rehab is higher than an outpatient facility. Residential rehabs require more staff, security, a bigger facility, and a more elaborate set up.  However, there are some free residential programs. The private ones will have better services such as, better staff-patient ratio. The waiting time will be shorter than a government funded rehab. The cost of a private residential rehab will vary from around 3000$ to over 40,000$. The cost factors are the staff-patient ratio, the duration of the program, and also the expense to run the facility. A facility by the beach will be more expensive than one in the country. The price will vary also from different states. Some treatment programs of good reputation can also be very expensive, because of their reputation.
