District Of Columbia Shelter Services And Programs
Shelters and short term living accommodations are set up to help those individuals who are down and out and have no place to go. These people may be current drug users who are homeless, and or may be recovering addicts who have no where to go. These establishments are there to help provide the basic necessities of life and in some cases help an addict get into a treatment program. They typically provide a place to sleep at night, and provide some basic jobs during the day so as to keep the person busy and active in the community. Shelters do not cost anything to attend as they rely on public and state funding to operate. In the District of Columbia there are some good options available that will be able to help those in need.
