Acadia Parish is located in the southern region of the state, and in 2018 the population was over 62,000 people. The largest city is Crowley, which is also the parish seat. Like many other communities within Louisiana, some residents are struggling with addiction and substance use issues. However, drug rehabilitation is the best option, and searching for programs does not have to be difficult. An addiction assessment is a good place to start, and this helps a family determine the extent of addiction and what treatment options are available. The first phase with rehabilitation is always detox, and this cannot be avoided because drugs and alcohol create withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Detoxification methods include inpatient medically supervised detox and withdrawal management and or conventional detox.

Following detox, the next part of treatment involves attending inpatient or outpatient drug treatment centers. Residential drug rehab is the best option because more counseling, therapy, and relapse prevention are provided. Inpatient programs are either short-term or long-term, and the extent and history of addiction determine what length of treatment is required. Long-term drug rehab usually lasts three to six months or more, but this is different for each facility. Short-term drug rehabilitation provides services for three to six weeks, which is brief but intensive. Outpatient drug treatment is also a good option because the programs are accessible and affordable. Aftercare support should also be considered, which includes sober living homes, 12-step meetings, and other methods of peer support.
