Addicted.org provides a compressive list of numerous Christian-based treatment centers. Contact one of our addictions counselors for more information.

Christian Rehabilitation in Alabama and Long-Term Recovery

The benefit of Christian-based drug rehab is the ongoing connection to peer recovery groups and 12-step support groups. Long-term recovery is essential because it ensures recovering addicts have the support they need, especially when recovering from alcohol addiction or opioid addiction. Unfortunately, many people do not get the help they need and even experience an overdose. According to local sources, drug overdose deaths in parts of Alabama have risen sharply in 2020 and are poised to exceed all previous numbers. For example, around Birmingham, Alabama, overdose deaths in the first half of 2020 rose 22%.

Drugs like heroin and fentanyl are the cause of the problem—the number of overdose deaths in Jefferson County increased by 32.5% during the first half of 2020. The stress of the pandemic 2020 contributed significantly to the increase in overdose deaths across the country. Countless people are struggling with addiction, and without proper treatment, the addiction becomes progressively worse. Christian drug and alcohol treatment centers in Alabama provide excellent options to help people addicted to drugs or alcohol. Once a patient is admitted into a Christian program, they receive an assessment to determine their specific needs and to benefit from personalized treatment approaches.

The rehabilitation process is different for each person, and it is important to find the right type of treatment. Christian treatment programs may not be the best fit for every person, but if the individual wants spiritual therapy as part of overall rehabilitation, then these programs are important. Addiction impacts everyone differently, and no one form of treatment is the right fit for every person. The 12-step approach is often used in conjunction with Christian treatment centers. Group therapy is an excellent option, and the 12-step treatment programs are based on Christian teachings. Christian drug rehab in Alabama has become safe haven in the lives of addicts who struggle with other forms of treatment. The spiritual angle to recovery has saved the lives of many addicts and helped them to achieve long-term recovery.

More Information

Michael Leach is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, who has over 5 years of experience working in the field of addiction. He spent his career working under the board-certified Addictionologist Dr. Rohit Adi. His experience includes working with families during their loved one’s stay in treatment, helping those with substance abuse issues find treatment, and teaching life skills to patients in a recovery atmosphere. Though he has worked in many different areas of rehabilitation, the majority of his time was spent working one on one with patients who were actively withdrawing from drugs. Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome. He believes having someone there to help a person through these obstacles can make all the difference during the withdrawal process.
