Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Programs for DUI/DWI Offenders in Alaska

Alcohol and drug safely action plans are often state-wide programs for when someone does become convicted of a DUI or DWI. Usually, as part of the conviction, the offender will have a certain amount of time to enroll in a type of program, such as an alcohol and drug safety action program. This type of program will re-educate the offender about the dangers of driving while impaired, while also addressing any type of substance use disorder. On average within the state of Alaska, roughly 30 people die annually because of impaired driving, and around 1.2% of the population drive after drinking too much. When you decide to get behind the wheel after drinking too much, you are not only putting your life at risk but the lives of others around you. Impaired driving programs can help reduce the number of impaired drivers on the road. The offender will be able to address the reasons why they drove impaired and learn new ways how they can avoid this problem in the future.
