Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Programs for DUI/DWI Offenders in New Mexico

When you have been charged with a DUI in New Mexico, you may be court ordered to attend some type of alcohol and drug safety action program within the state. This type of program is designed to reduce the amount of drunk driving. Within the state, there are roughly 118 people who die each year because of drunk driving. An alcohol and drug safety action program can address the factors that are connected to your impaired driving and help rehabilitate you. This is done through education, preventative measures, and counseling or treatment. Many repeat offenders of impaired driving are struggling with a substance use disorder or some type of alcohol dependency. If this is the case, there will often be drug rehabilitation and treatment involved to help the offender. Being charged with a DUI will change your life, and if you do end up injuring or killing someone, you could spend some time in prison.
