Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Programs for DUI/DWI Offenders in Texas

People who have been charged with a DUI in the state of Texas may have to attend some type of alcohol and drug safety action program. This type of program is a mandatory type of substance abuse treatment, for people who drive while impaired. The purpose of this program is to essentially rehabilitate the person and ensure they do not commit another offense of driving while impaired. Within the state of Texas, annually around 1438 people die each year because of drunk driving. When you are looking at the entire population within the state, around 2.1% of the adults who can drive, have driven while intoxicated. Driving while impaired is dangerous, and it does lead to injury and death, however, alcohol and drug safety action programs are effective and do work with preventing people from driving while impaired. When you are charged with a DUI, you will be facing severe penalties and fines, and this could even be some jail time.
