According to a 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment put together by UCI Health, approximately 35% of adults in Orange County had engaged in binge drinking in the past year. Roughly 14% of women who became pregnant engaged in binge drinking in advance of their pregnancy and 7% consumed alcohol during the third trimester. Within this assessment, it was indicated that around 7.5% of Orange County teens tried marijuana, cocaine, inhalants, and other drugs. Marijuana was the most frequently used drug among teens with 26%, and 15% had misused prescription pills. There are many substance abuse programs in Anaheim that can offer help to those struggling with addiction. However, the county does place more emphasis on treatment, but not enough focus on prevention. Many of the problems within Orange County and cities such as Anaheim involve opioid addiction, and many of the younger generations are not educated about the dangers surrounding opioids.
