The most commonly sought-out Christ-centered drug rehab is Alcoholics Anonymous and 12-step facilitation. However, it is normal for many programs to incorporate faith-based teachings as part of counseling and spiritual guidance.

Our professional opinion is that Christian drug rehab centers offer a well-rounded treatment approach. Clients are provided therapy to help them physically, mentally, and spiritually, addressing every aspect of recovery. In addition, they are connected to a strong support network during recovery and aftercare.

TIPS: If you're looking for Christian drug rehab

  • Contact the local church or congregation leader for support and strength during this difficult time.
  • Contact a substance abuse professional at Addicted.org to see what resources are available in your area that fit your spiritual needs.
  • Encourage the individual struggling to attend religious services, but do not force them or make them wrong for not going. This could force them away
  • Contact a medical professional before stopping heavy substance use because withdrawal from alcohol and certain drugs can be life-threatening.

Christian Drug Rehab in Arkansas and Long-Term Recovery

Once a person has been admitted into a Christian treatment program in Arkansas, the process is much different. The first step is detox, which could be a medical or standard detox provider. After detox, the next step is treatment involves counseling, and typically residential rehabilitation provides better options, but outpatient centers are also effective. Finding the right type of rehabilitation is important. Like many other states, Arkansas has been impacted by the opioid epidemic. In an analysis released by Arkansas prescription drug monitoring program, 3.21 million opioid prescriptions were written in 2018. The number of prescriptions totaled 186 million pills, which was a 21% drop from 2016.

The state’s rate of prescribing was 102.1 prescriptions per 100 people, far greater than the national average then. Countless people become addicted to pain medication and gradually progress to heroin. Christian drug and alcohol treatment programs in Arkansas routinely treat people with these addictions. A successful component of Christian-based drug rehab is the 12-step process. The 12-steps are central to Christian drug treatment programs. The exact text from the Christian 12-step recovery program is used in most Christian treatment centers. However, residential and outpatient treatment centers incorporate different treatment methodologies to help addicts.

For example, this could include evidence-based therapy, behavioral counseling, non-traditional approaches like holistic treatment, and wilderness and adventure programs. Residential Christian treatment programs are excellent options for long-term recovery. Patients will usually have to attend church and faith-based groups like 12-step programs. When rehabilitation is completed, it is beneficial to remain connected to 12-step groups and faith-based support. Aftercare support does help contribute to long-term sobriety.

Michael Leach is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, who has over 5 years of experience working in the field of addiction. He spent his career working under the board-certified Addictionologist Dr. Rohit Adi. His experience includes working with families during their loved one’s stay in treatment, helping those with substance abuse issues find treatment, and teaching life skills to patients in a recovery atmosphere. Though he has worked in many different areas of rehabilitation, the majority of his time was spent working one on one with patients who were actively withdrawing from drugs. Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome. He believes having someone there to help a person through these obstacles can make all the difference during the withdrawal process.
