Bedford County can be found in the northeastern state of Pennsylvania. The county seat is the city of Bedford. Bedford County is home to an estimated population of around 47,000 people as of 2019 according to a report from the United States Census Bureau, making it one of the smaller counties in the state. But regardless of size, areas across the state have all struggle with drug addiction and overdose as the nation’s drug epidemic has remained since the early 2000s. In 2019 there were 35.1 drug deaths for every 100,000 residents of the state per America’s Health Rankings. This was one of the highest rates in the nation and shows just how bad the problem really is there. Each drug death was someone who could have been saved if they had gotten help before it was too late. So many people never make it into treatment before accidentally overdosing. In early addiction, this is particularly common since the person’s tolerance is low and they have less experience dosing and identifying drugs. This is why you should never ignore signs of drug use in a loved one or wait for them to be “ready”. That day may never come, so you must intervene before it is too late. No one wants to look bac after tragedy and regret not doing everything possible to save a life.
