Brevard County is a county that is located on the east coast of the state of Florida. Home to over 543,000 people as of the 2010 United States Census, Brevard County is one of the ten largest counties in the state by population. But being densely populated can have drawbacks like increased rates of crime and drug addiction, a problem which this area has seen plenty of. The state of Florida is notorious for its difficulties with substance abuse, and it has become known as the rehab capital of America. From 2015 to 2017 there were 582 drug overdose deaths in Brevard County, one of the highest rates in the state of Florida during that time period according to a report published by County Health Rankings and Roadmaps. This shows how badly the residents of this area need drug and alcohol rehabilitation services to save lives. Every drug overdose death is a life that could have been saved if the person had received the right kind of treatment at the right time.

Some of these people had never reached out for help, and some of them hid their drug use from everyone. Perhaps they had just started using drugs and didn’t see it as a problem in their life yet. Or maybe everyone knew they used drugs and they did not try to hide it, but they simply wanted to keep using drugs and did not value their life enough to try to save it. These people needed someone to reach out to them and get them to receive help. This is not an easy task, but it can be done.

Others may have reached out for help before but had either not completed treatment or had relapsed afterward. This can be very difficult because it can cause the person to believe that treatment does not work. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. It is a matter of finding the right treatment for the person’s situation at that time. There are different levels of care when it comes to drug and alcohol rehabilitation services, and it is a matter of matching the person’s needs with the correct level of care. If the person is in the wrong level of care, either too low or too high, they will have less than optimum results. The person in too high of a level of care will feel overly restricted and out of place, which will lead them to minimize their own problems and rejecting help. The person in too low of a level of care will feel that they are not getting the support they need for their cravings and withdrawal symptoms and will frequently leave treatment early to use drugs. Both of these illustrate why it is so important that you are completely honest with whomever you speak with about treatment options so they can help you find the right help for you.
