Addicted.org has an extensive directory listing of California’s Christian substance use treatment programs. When you first contact one of our counselors, we help locate the best treatment and recovery options that meet your individual needs. Christian-based drug rehab generally provides extensive spiritual, physical, and psychological rehabilitation.

In our professional opinion, programs that can help you physically, mentally, and spiritually provide the best options for long-term recovery. A significant benefit of Christian programs is a large number of 12-step support groups and faith-based support groups in California. Long-term support is essential for recovery.

TIPS: If you're looking for Christian drug rehab

  • Contact the local church or congregation leader for support and strength during this difficult time.
  • Contact a substance abuse professional at Addicted.org to see what resources are available in your area that fit your spiritual needs.
  • Encourage the individual struggling to attend religious services, but do not force them or make them wrong for not going. This could force them away
  • Contact a medical professional before stopping heavy substance use because withdrawal from alcohol and certain drugs can be life-threatening.

Christian Substance Abuse Treatment in California and Long-Term Recovery

Substance abuse and addiction impact millions of people in California, and unfortunately, not everyone can maintain long-term sobriety. However, there are significant benefits to attending Christian drug and alcohol treatment in California. Christian programs offer excellent aftercare support, whether through the church, 12-step meetings, or other faith-based recovery groups. Regardless of the addiction, it is important to find the right type of treatment and support. According to the California Health Care Almanac, alcohol use disorder was more prevalent than other types of substance use disorders. Approximately 6% of residents in the state reported meeting the criteria for dependence.

Additionally, substance use disorders were most prevalent among young adults aged 18 to 25, occurring at nearly twice the state average rate. Unfortunately, the use of drugs and alcohol often begins in 11th grade, and more than half of California students have used alcohol, and almost 40% have used marijuana. Heroin and other opioids continue to plague the state. The number of heroin-related emergency department visits in the state more than tripled between 2006 and 2017. When a heroin addict or opioid addict does not receive proper treatment, it significantly impacts their long-term recovery.

Most Christian drug and alcohol treatment programs are based on the 12-steps, and this does play a significant role in aftercare support. Many people who are dealing with drug or alcohol addiction seek spiritual support, whether in detox, treatment, or recovery. There are many drug rehab centers in California that offer Christian-based treatment and support. The rehabilitation process is the same, and it begins with detox programs like medical detox or a standard detox. After detox, the next step with treatment is at a residential or outpatient treatment center. Aftercare support is also important, and this completes well-rounded rehabilitation.

More Information

Michael Leach is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, who has over 5 years of experience working in the field of addiction. He spent his career working under the board-certified Addictionologist Dr. Rohit Adi. His experience includes working with families during their loved one’s stay in treatment, helping those with substance abuse issues find treatment, and teaching life skills to patients in a recovery atmosphere. Though he has worked in many different areas of rehabilitation, the majority of his time was spent working one on one with patients who were actively withdrawing from drugs. Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome. He believes having someone there to help a person through these obstacles can make all the difference during the withdrawal process.
