Christian Faith-Based Drug Rehabilitation in Washington

Christian drug and alcohol treatment programs are an excellent option for anyone who wants a well-rounded approach to treatment. These treatment options provide healing for the mind, body, and spirit and put Christ as the foundation of healing and recovery from addiction. The purpose of a Christian substance abuse treatment center is like any other, and that is to help the addict beat their addiction and maintain their sobriety after treatment. For many people recovering from addiction and those in treatment, spiritual healing is just as important as healing the mind and body. In Washington, Christian drug rehabilitation centers provide many different options to help addicts and their families through the rehabilitation process.

The process of locating and being admitted to a Christian based treatment center should not have to be difficult. Typically, an addiction assessment is a good place to begin, and this process could happen in-person or over the phone with a qualified professional. The purpose of an addiction assessment is to determine the extent or severity of the addiction and what treatment options are available. Christian rehabilitation programs incorporate spirituality along with evidence-based approaches like behavioral therapy. Many Christian based treatment centers also utilize holistic treatment or are part of a wilderness and adventure-based program. No one form of treatment is right for every person, and it is important to find the proper rehabilitation center.

Christian Substance Abuse Treatment in Washington and the Benefit of Spiritual Healing

Christian drug and alcohol treatment centers in Washington work much like any other rehab center except for the spirituality. These programs help addicted individuals relate aspects of their faith to their journey through treatment and recovery. Christian treatment programs work to help rebuild faith, restore health, and foster new spiritual awareness. Overall, Christ is at the base of the entire treatment plan, and the goal is to strengthen the spiritual foundation. Some of the common treatment options involve education in spiritual principles and teachings, developing a relationship with God, religious studies, and participating in meditation and prayer.

Unfortunately, substance abuse and addiction impact many families that live in Washington. According to a 2017 Behavioral Health Barometer, between 2014 and 2017, the annual average prevalence of past-year marijuana use in the state was 20.7%. During that same time, approximately 2.2% were struggling with marijuana addiction. Also, the annual average prevalence of past-year heroin use was 0.44%, while 5.7% misused pain medication, and 1.2% had an opioid use disorder. In addition, among people aged 12 or older in Washington, between 2015 and 2017, 3.8% had illicit drug use disorder.

Overall, the rehabilitation process within a Christian based treatment program is the same as any other treatment center. The first step is detox, and this could involve a medical detox provider or a standard detox provider. However, detox should not be considered the only approach to treatment. The next phase of rehabilitation should involve attending an inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation center that offers aftercare support. Christian based treatment centers offer excellent support networks with faith-based recovery groups, 12-step meetings, and other forms of peer support.
