College and University Students Addiction Services in Alaska

Alaska is one of the most sparsely populated states within the nation. It is home to the fewest number of four-year colleges and universities in the US. There is a total of four post-secondary institutions, three of which are operated by the University of Alaska. Like many other colleges and universities across the nation, there are problems with drug and alcohol abuse. There are countless reasons why college students choose to abuse drugs or alcohol. Curiosity is one of them, especially for students who have never used drugs or alcohol before. It is no secret that alcohol is considered a part of college life. Unfortunately, every year college students become addicted to alcohol, and die from alcohol-related causes. Struggling with an addiction while in school is not easy, and is difficult to reach out for help. However, resources are available on college campuses, such as collegiate recovery resources, and counseling programs. Outside of college in Alaska, are various forms of treatment through inpatient or outpatient facilities. Reaching out for help is important, because addiction becomes worse, and you are at risk for not graduating.
