College and University Students Addiction Services in Louisiana

The College of Louisiana is now a private institution located outside of Shreveport. The Centenary College of Louisiana in the oldest charted liberal arts college west of the Mississippi. There are around 15 nonprofit private schools in the state and about 19 public colleges. The Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge is the largest public school in the state. For some college students attending these schools, problems with drug and alcohol abuse have affected their academic performance. When you become addicted to drugs or alcohol while in college, you are risking more than losing your career. It is essential you ask for help, and there are laws that protect you if the college were to try to expel you. However, most colleges want their students to graduate and will do whatever they can to help. There are college counseling services, and some colleges provide collegiate recovery groups for recovering addicts. Any type of addiction only becomes worse when no help is gotten.
