The city of Cortland is located in Cortland County, part of the Southern Tier region of the state. The population of Cortland is estimated at over 18,900 people, with a median age of 27 years old. Substance abuse and addiction impacts every demographic in the county differently. The percentage of residents over the age of 65 has been increasing. Many older adults struggle with substance abuse and addiction, such as alcohol and or prescription drugs. Across the county are different drug and alcohol treatment programs and services. The treatment facilities are capable of treating all age groups and addictions.
