It can be very easy to become addicted to these drugs as they are typically mixed together with other drugs to intensify the high, and this can lead to serious illness or even death in rare occasions. This drug can be used recreationally because it is easily purchased over the counter, and some of the cold medicine drugs can be given as a prescription. Recreational abuse of cough and cold medicine is commonly done by younger people, especially by teens and adolescents.
