Crawford County is a county that can be found in the northeastern state of Pennsylvania. The county seat is Meadville. Crawford County is home to an estimated population of around 84,000 people as of 2019 according to the United States Census Bureau, making it one of the smaller counties in the state by population. But this does not mean that the area has not struggled with drug addiction and overdose like much of the state has since the early 2000s when America’s drug epidemic first began. Since then, even rural communities have become overwhelmed with substance abuse issues. In 0219 there were 35.1 drug deaths for every 100,000 residents of the state according to a report from America’s Health Rankings, making it one of the worse states in the nation for drug problems. This shows just how badly people are needing help from drug and alcohol rehabilitation and detox services but not getting it. Most people automatically assume that this is the fault of the treatment centers, but this is not necessarily the case. Many people never make it into treatment even once before losing their lives to addiction. If they do not arrive at the treatment facilities, there is not much that can be done to help them. This is why it is the responsibility of the person’s loved ones to step in and intervene instead of watching the person kill themselves. Act before it is too late.
