Last updated: 21 December 2021

Danville is a city that can be found in the state of Virginia. It is populated by an estimated 40,000 people as of 2019 according to the United States Census Bureau, Danville is one of the larger cities in the state by population. But since America's drug epidemic began in the early 2000s, being densely populated has become more of a risk than a positive. In 2019 there were 15.4 drug deaths for every 100,000 residents of the state according to America's Health Rankings, a rate that shows only a small portion of the people who needed help from drug and alcohol rehabilitation and detox services. Each person who died could still be alive if they had gotten proper help before it was too late. So many people accidentally overdose before ever being ready to get help, which is why you should never ignore signs of drug use in a loved one. Many people will tell you that they must be "ready" before you can help them, but this is dangerous advice. Waiting for them to be ready may never happen if they accidentally overdose before ever being ready to get help. Intervention services work and should be utilized for this exact scenario to save a life.
