Substance abuse does not have to always involve illegal street drugs, people regularly become addicted to prescription drugs such as buprenorphine. This particular drug is made from an opium extract and is used to treat opioid addiction. Unfortunately, for many opioid addicts in Delaware, it becomes a common problem to become addicted to opioids, and later also become addicted to buprenorphine. Detox from buprenorphine or Suboxone is not easy, and the withdrawal effects are similar to what heroin will produce. However, many former addicts have said the withdrawal pain is milder. Even the smallest amount of buprenorphine or Suboxone will cause the same euphoric effects as heroin. This drug will create both a physical and psychological dependency, that can be difficult to get rid of, the longer you are using the medication. Buprenorphine or Suboxone addiction is a common problem, and this does become an endless cycle for many opioid addicts to become addicted to more than one type of drug.

What type of rehabilitation happens after detox?

Each rehabilitation procedure after detox is different for each addict, and it is important for the addict to have the proper facility available when they have completed a detox program. Depending on the severity of the addiction, the rehabilitation center will be either a long-term or a short-term center, which will help treat all types of addiction and substance abuse problems.
