Alcohol and drug abuse in Placer County has impacted many of the residents. Within the county, there is one opioid treatment program, and over 2000 county residents received buprenorphine treatment. Medication-assisted treatment is a common withdrawal management technique used along with therapy. Within Placer County, approximately 2% of the people who are using opioids are addicted to them. However, more patients within the county are unable to gain access to the treatment they need.
