Drug Rehab Centers in Tulare County, California

Tulare County was named for Tulare Lake, which was once the largest freshwater lake west of the Great Lakes. The county is located south of Fresno and spans the San Joaquin Valley east to the Sierra Nevada. Substance abuse and addiction affect the area much like many other counties close by. The county was also not immune to the effects of the opioid epidemic. In 2018 there were seven deaths in the county because of an opioid overdose. During that same year, 75 people were admitted to emergency rooms related to opioids, and there were 42 hospitalizations. In 2018 in Tulare County, prescribing doctors wrote 274,414 opioid prescriptions.

By the end of 2014, in California, approximately 44% of men had attended one of the treatment programs in the state, and around 25% of women. Adolescents under the age of 18 were least likely to go to treatment, and only 16.4% attended a program. Young adults aged 18 to 25 were more likely to participate in drug rehab, and 51.7% of them went to treatment. Adults in California aged 26 to 35 were the most likely to attend a drug rehab center, and 69.4% of them attend drug rehab. Adults aged 36 or older were not as likely to participate in treatment, and only 29.4% of them went to a drug rehab center.
