Tulare County was named for Tulare Lake, which was once the largest freshwater lake west of the Great Lakes. The county is located south of Fresno and spans the San Joaquin Valley east to the Sierra Nevada. Substance abuse and addiction affect the area much like many other counties close by. Adults in California aged 26 to 35 were the most likely to attend a drug rehab center, and 69.4% of them attend drug rehab. Adults aged 36 or older were not as likely to participate in treatment, and only 29.4% of them went to a drug rehab center.
