Drug Rehab Centers in Ventura County, California

Ventura County is located in the southern part of the state and is made up of the Oxnard-Thousand Oaks Ventura and California Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area. Ventura is also considered the southern most county along the California Central Coast, and substance abuse, along with the opioid epidemic, has impacted that area. Since 2016 deaths involving opioids have declined in Ventura County; however, it still outpaced the mortality rate across California. The hospitalization because of opioids fell nearly 37% in Ventura County between 2014 and 2016; however, many people were still abusing opioids. As of 2019, many families and individuals in Ventura County are struggling with substance abuse.

In 2018 in Ventura County, there were 91 deaths related to an opioid overdose and 276 emergency department visits. During that same year, there were 127 hospitalizations related to opioids, and prescribing doctors gave out 481,650 opioid prescriptions per the California Opioid Overdose Surveillance Dashboard. Within the state, over 130,000 people were treated in state and county contracted substance abuse treatment centers by the end of 2014. Men in California were treated at a higher rate than women, and adults aged 26 to 35 had the highest rates of admission. Overall, Californians had the highest rates of admission per population, according to the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF).
