Alternative Drug & Alcohol Counseling (ADAC) operates an outpatient office in Hagerstown, Maryland, serving individuals and families in Washington County who are dealing with substance use disorders. Run under the umbrella of Potomac Community Services, ADAC delivers a range of addiction treatment and education services grounded in a holistic model that considers the whole person, with sustained sobriety and long-term wellness as the central goals of care.
Counseling, Education, and Evaluation
Clients at the Hagerstown office receive individualized treatment guided by ASAM level-of-care criteria, with Maryland COMAR regulations identifying a standard treatment period of 26 weeks. Programming includes individual, couple, and family counseling, group therapy centered on abstinence and substance use issues, and intensive outpatient services. ADAC is also approved for DMV, SAP, and DOT evaluations and provides a 12-hour DUI education course for first-time offenders. Evaluations run 60 to 90 minutes and cover substance use history, legal background, medical history, and family circumstances, with the final determination of treatment needs made by a qualified substance abuse counselor.
Specialty Programming and Access
The Hagerstown office offers services beyond core addiction counseling, including programming for gambling addiction, adult children of alcoholics, co-dependency, and anger management, as well as adolescent counseling, 5-point detox and biotuning, and urinalysis and ETG testing. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Friday hours reserved for urinalysis testing from 9:00 a.m. to noon. ADAC accepts Maryland Medicaid, major credit cards, and cash, and also operates a second office in Cumberland for clients in Allegany County.
