Adult & Teen Challenge of Baltimore is a faith-based, nonprofit residential recovery program for teens and adults in Baltimore, Maryland. The organization operates a men’s center and the MIRA Women’s Home, offering a 12-month residential program for individuals struggling with life-controlling substance abuse and addiction. Adult & Teen Challenge of Baltimore is part of the broader Teen Challenge network, which was founded in 1958 and now operates over 1,100 centers across 109 countries.
A 12-Month Faith-Based Residential Program
The program provides a year-long residential experience that goes beyond rehabilitation, combining spiritual development with practical life preparation. Residents participate in work therapy through the Renewal Lawn Care micro-enterprise, which builds vocational skills and work habits as part of the recovery process. The admissions process includes a review of the student handbook, an online application, a pre-screening interview covering health, family, and legal circumstances, and completion of required medical forms. Following graduation, the Emerging Leaders Program offers a six-month to one-year internship in servant leadership, where graduates assist staff with mentoring, meal preparation, and transportation while receiving housing, meals, a monthly stipend, and leadership training curriculum.
Restoration and Continuing Support
Adult & Teen Challenge of Baltimore also offers a Restoration program for individuals who previously completed a Teen Challenge curriculum and experienced relapse. This four to six month program provides reinforcement training tailored to the individual’s recovery needs and is open to graduates from the past three years. The organization operates as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
