Adult & Teen Challenge Greater Midwest – Men’s Residential Program

Updated on: 27 July 2026

About this center

Adult & Teen Challenge Greater Midwest operates a men’s residential recovery program in Pekin, Illinois. The program is a faith-based, twelve-month residential experience designed to address drug, alcohol, pornography, and gambling addictions through character development, disciplined living, and a Christian framework. Adult & Teen Challenge Greater Midwest serves men across a six-state region covering Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Iowa, and holds ECFA accreditation for financial accountability. A Chicago Men’s Induction Center also serves as a referral and intake point for the program.

A Twelve-Month, Two-Phase Residential Program

The program is divided into two six-month phases, both carried out at the Pekin campus. Residents live in a 24/7 dorm-style environment with a structured daily schedule that includes a faith-based curriculum, daily chapel, group counseling and studies, work program placements, and recreation time. The program is built around peer residential living, where men further along in recovery serve as mentors to newer residents. Certified drug and alcohol counselors provide peer counseling alongside pastoral counseling, personal growth planning, and spiritual development through prayer and devotional study. Physical wellness is supported through exercise, outdoor activities, proper nutrition, and sleep hygiene. A one-time, non-refundable intake fee of $1,500 applies, though scholarships are available for those who cannot pay. The organization covers the remainder of the program cost.

Vocational Training and Post-Graduation Support

Beginning around month ten, the program shifts toward transition planning with college courses, job placement assistance, and life-skills development to prepare residents for independent living after graduation. Post-graduation support continues beyond the twelve months and includes help with employment, housing, peer connection, and volunteer opportunities. Weekly family contact is available throughout the program, with phone calls permitted after the first fifteen days and in-person visits on Saturdays after the first thirty days.
