Adult & Teen Challenge New Mexico Women’s Campus in Roswell, New Mexico, offers long-term Christian residential recovery for women aged 18 and older facing drug and alcohol addiction or other life-controlling struggles. Opened in 2023, the Roswell campus is the women’s program of Adult & Teen Challenge New Mexico and pairs licensed counseling with faith-based discipleship. Its location in the quieter southeastern part of the state gives residents room to step away from harmful relationships and surroundings while they focus on healing.
Counseling and Faith Side by Side
Clinical work at the Roswell campus is woven into each resident’s week rather than set apart from it. Women may receive clinical assessments, one-on-one and group counseling with licensed clinicians, and trauma-informed support aimed at the emotional wounds that often sit beneath substance use. Staff also use crisis prevention techniques that teach residents to calm conflict and handle stress without turning back to drugs or alcohol. Spiritual growth runs alongside this counseling through two discipleship study tracks: a personalized set of lessons each woman works through with staff, and 14 classroom courses completed together with her peers. Many staff members have walked through recovery themselves, which shapes the mentoring residents receive.
Three Levels of Recovery
A typical stay runs 12 to 18 months, and the program unfolds over three levels. In the first, called Recovery, women learn to recognize unhealthy thinking, examine their beliefs, and understand the needs they had been trying to meet through substance use. The second level, Renewal, turns toward emotional, spiritual, and relational healing, including repairing relationships and working through questions of identity. The third, Restoration and Healing, readies each woman for life beyond the campus with personal goals, a relapse prevention plan, and routines meant to hold up over time, and staff offer guidance on continued support after she completes the program.
Life Skills and Everyday Structure
Daily life follows a set schedule in a drug-free residence where women live together and hold one another accountable. Classes cover parenting, anger management, drug and alcohol education, relapse prevention, boundaries, and healthy coping, while practical training addresses budgeting, communication, time management, and responsibility in the workplace, with hands-on work experience helping residents build job skills. Recreational activities round out the week, and families are encouraged to stay in touch when appropriate. The campus operates as a nonprofit and keeps fees low through community support, and admissions staff can talk through financial options with each applicant.
