Diane’s House is the women’s center of Adult & Teen Challenge of St. Louis, a faith-based residential recovery program in High Ridge, Missouri. Operated by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it welcomes women 18 and older from across the Midwest, and both admission and long-term residential care are free.
Transformation in Two Phases
Diane’s House offers long-term residential recovery split into two phases, Induction and Training. The program’s focus is renewal of the whole person, spirit, mind, will, and emotions, and Adult & Teen Challenge describes the aim as helping each woman become a new creation rather than simply stopping her substance use. Teaching draws on scripture, and women learn to apply it to their own lives. Care continues until a woman is ready to return to society and support herself. Women come from a wide area, with residents arriving from as far as Tennessee, Nebraska, Illinois, and Kansas.
Cost and How to Apply
Nothing is charged for admission or for the residential care that follows, since the organization is funded by donations from individuals, churches, organizations, and area businesses. To be eligible, a woman must be at least 18 and emotionally and mentally stable enough to take part in group living. The process begins with a digital application, then reviewing the student handbook and completing the required forms with signatures, which are emailed to Diane’s House. Next comes a phone interview with the admissions coordinator, available on weekdays, and once approved, an arrival date is set according to bed availability.
