The Missoula Women’s Campus is Adult & Teen Challenge PacWest’s residential program for women in Montana, sitting about 10 miles west of downtown Missoula and taking up to 20 students at a time. Women come here for drug and alcohol addiction, entering a long-term recovery and discipleship program rather than a short clinical stay. Adult & Teen Challenge PacWest is a nonprofit with residential campuses for women across six states.
The Year-Long Program
The residential program runs a year, which allows for something slower than shorter treatment can offer, and it approaches recovery as a matter of transformation rather than symptom management. The change the organization aims at is meant to reach a person’s thinking, emotions, health, relationships, and faith together, and the curriculum is built to challenge the patterns that keep someone using and point toward something different. Women who finish receive a certificate of graduation. Beyond addiction itself, the program takes in women facing other serious problems that have taken control of their lives.
Vocational Training and a Christ-Centered Curriculum
Students at Missoula take part in vocational training alongside their curriculum work, picking up practical skills, responsibility, and the habit of working with others through actual tasks rather than instruction alone. The curriculum is explicitly Christ-centered, and spiritual formation runs through the daily routine rather than occupying a separate slot in it. Across the wider organization, counseling services along with community outreach and prevention work sit alongside the residential campuses.
