Amethyst House, Inc. Outpatient Treatment Services is a substance abuse treatment program in Bloomington, Indiana, offering individualized outpatient care for adults working toward recovery. The program operates under a not-for-profit organization that has served the recovery community since 1980 and holds CARF accreditation for adult outpatient treatment.
Evidence-Based Outpatient Treatment
The outpatient program at Amethyst House uses evidence-based practices grounded in Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Treatment begins with a clinical assessment guided by ASAM criteria, which determines the appropriate level of care and informs an individualized treatment plan tailored to each client’s needs. Clients are expected to have a minimum of two weeks of sobriety before beginning treatment, and active participation in recovery support programs such as AA or NA is part of the program’s expectations.
Program Structure and Services
Group sessions are kept small, typically eight to ten participants, to allow for personalized attention and meaningful engagement. The program also offers family support services to address the broader impact of substance use on clients’ relationships. Treatment is provided by Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselors and Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Services are available Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with assessment appointments available during those hours. Amethyst House accepts Anthem, MDwise Medicaid and HIP plans, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and other insurance carriers, and uses a sliding fee scale to support accessibility.
