Anasazi Foundation

CREDENTIALS: LAMFT, MA, LCSW, LAC, LASAC, BHP, LMSW

The Anasazi Foundation was founded in 1988 and is a non-profit organization and is a wilderness based treatment program, that incorporates primitive living experiences and philosophies. This approach invites natural healing through nature, and traditional Native American techniques.

The Anasazi Foundation helps addicts in the Mesa, Arizona area by creating a beneficial and wholly inpatient approach to drug and alcohol addiction.  Their services are long term (longer than thirty days) and they offer inpatient detoxification too.

Our non-punitive ANASAZI Way philosophy focuses on one's strengths and good deeds—it relies on natural consequences rather than on contrived experiences or punishment. This approach promotes a change of heart that often results in a lasting change in behavior. The young people who participate in ANASAZI programs discover a profound sense of self worth which enables them to begin anew and assume responsibility for the choices that govern the course of their lives.

The ANASAZI Way:

Individualized care provided by experienced,

independently licensed clinicians

Non-punitive and based in respect for individual choice

Addresses the biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of one's life

An invitation to consider one's family values and belief systems Facilitates a change of heart that promotes a lasting change in behavior

Healing and strengthening family relationships

Opportunity for a new beginning

The ANASAZI Way was developed over the past 40 years by Larry Dean Olsen and Ezekiel Sanchez, who are widely considered to be pioneers of the field generally known as wilderness therapy. Together in 1988 they formed ANASAZI Foundation to make this experience available to all families, regardless of their financial circumstances.

The Anasazi Foundation is located in Mesa, Arizona.  The Anasazi Foundation specializes in a lot of different things, including both inpatient and outpatient services.  The center also utilizes an outdoor, wilderness program which is quite helpful in getting people off of drugs and alcohol for good.  The center offers detoxification, short term treatment (less than thirty days), long term treatment (longer than thirty days), and aftercare and follow up care.  The program accepts most forms of health insurance as well as self pay options too.  The Anasazi Foundation is also particularly capable for helping family members and loved ones of addicts, as well as for helping young adults and teens who suffer with addiction.
