Brown County Evaluation Center is a detoxification facility in New Ulm, Minnesota, providing a safe, caring place to withdraw from alcohol and other substances. Serving adults and adolescents across southern Minnesota, the co-ed center offers short-term, medically monitored detox for people who are intoxicated or in withdrawal and cannot safely care for themselves. It accepts both voluntary and involuntary admissions and takes referrals around the clock.
Detoxification and Withdrawal Support
The 16-bed secure facility offers a supportive setting for detoxification from all substances, with an average stay of roughly two to three days. Care is overseen by a facility physician and nurses, providing medical monitoring to help clients move through withdrawal safely and comfortably. Meals and snacks are provided, along with shared or private rooms as space allows, and referrals are accepted at any hour.
Assessment and Access to Care
Beyond detox, the center completes chemical use assessments at no charge and helps clients arrange the assessments needed to move into ongoing treatment. Licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services and the Minnesota Department of Health, it works with several major insurance plans, though coverage varies by individual. This focus on assessment and connection helps ensure that detox becomes a starting point for continued recovery.
