CareFirst Community Health Services (CFCHS) is a nonprofit outpatient treatment agency in Detroit, Michigan, providing substance use treatment and related support to individuals and families. Established in 2002, the agency delivers integrated, culturally responsive care across Detroit and the surrounding metropolitan area, and it has served the community for more than two decades. CFCHS is accredited by CARF, licensed by the State of Michigan, and both Medicaid certified and Medicare approved. It approaches chemical dependency as a treatable disease that affects the whole person, working with each client alongside the family and friends who support them.
Outpatient Substance Use Treatment
CFCHS offers a range of outpatient care, including intake assessments and evaluations, standard outpatient services, intensive outpatient services, and aftercare, allowing clients to receive the level of support that fits their needs. Treatment is delivered through individual and group counseling, group didactic sessions, cognitive behavioral therapy, and family therapy, complemented by relapse prevention and anger management programming. The agency serves men and women, including those managing co-occurring disorders, and its care is provided by a trained team of licensed professional counselors, master’s- and bachelor’s-level social workers, and certified alcohol and drug counselors.
Specialty Programs and Community Services
Beyond its core treatment, CFCHS offers a number of specialty programs that reflect the needs of the people it serves. These include criminal justice services such as aftercare treatment and assessments for individuals involved with the justice system, a women’s specialty program, retail fraud counseling, and alcohol highway safety education with driver’s license assessments. The agency also provides HIV testing and early intervention services, along with prevention programming for youth and adults, including an in-school program, and life-skills education covering areas such as job readiness, money management, and social skills. Free language assistance is available, helping ensure that everyone in the community can access care.
