Center for Recovering Families at The Council on Alcohol Drugs Houston

The Council on Recovery was found in 1946 to reduce alcoholism, mental health disorders, and drug addiction in the area. They offer a wide variety of services that educate and counsel the clients under their care so that the community grows to be prosperous and healthier. The Center for Recovering Families offers outpatient services to the clients and their families through an intensive therapy approach. They go beyond the counselling of addiction and dependency to also counsel the client for other behavioral issues such as grief, trauma, mental health issues, and relational problems. This outpatient intensive counselling is available to adults; it has been specialized as a family-centered program. Its goal is to re-connect the broken family connection during the family counselling sessions for the client and their families. This service can also be used by senior adults and individual with HIV/AIDS. Those clients that complete the primary intensive outpatient service can also access the relapse prevention services as aftercare, so they can maintain a sober lifestyle.
