Chrysalis House

Chrysalis House was established in 1978, it is one of the largest and oldest alcohols, and drug abuse recovery facility specifically made for women in the Lexington community. This facility emphasizes care for those women that are struggling with a various problem, they also take in pregnant and parenting women under their wings of safety. Moreover, they also offer GED tutoring, computer training, medical care training, case management, housing assistance, medical assistance, job placement, and vocational training services for the women under their care. This center offers outpatient recovery services that provide assessment and counseling services to the clients seeking help for their addiction to alcohol and drug. Their staff offers counseling expertise for all clients that need the support to recovery into a better sober lifestyle.

The Chrysalis House is an outpatient substance abuse treatment center that offers assessments, drug testing, referrals into inpatient programs, one on one counseling, and a variety of other very helpful treatment options to drug and alcohol addicts in the Lexington, Kentucky area.  This rehab center affords safety and security in their efforts to assist people in triumphing over addiction and achieving a level of skill and sobriety that is lasting and permanent and that is unshakable too.

Chrysalis House uses a multi-disciplinary team approach led by a professional therapist specializing in the integrated treatment of substance abuse and mental health disorders. Other members of the treatment team include a case manager, psychiatric nurse practitioner, domestic violence counselor, SHOW coordinator who oversees housing and budgeting, and a job readiness coordinator who oversees education and employment.

 During approximately six months in residential treatment, the woman and her treatment team work toward completing treatment goals and objectives through individual therapy, group therapy, psycho-educational courses, peer mentoring, twelve-step involvement, and community volunteerism.  After completion of the majority of the items on the treatment plan and with adequate resources to support herself and her children, the woman is transitioned to independent living. Services continue for approximately an additional year through individual and group therapy and case management as needed.  

Substance dependent women who enter Chrysalis House tend to range in age from 24-38, though women as young as 18 may be admitted with no maximum age. Generally, the women are low-income, have limited education and job experience, have backgrounds which include victimization, have one or more co-occurring mental health conditions, and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Many are pregnant or postpartum and have limited access to health services.

The Chrysalis House rehab program, to summarize what the program is all about, is a recognized and long term treatment center that is a popular, workable, supportive, recovery-minded, both one on one committed and group focused approach to drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment, detox, rehab, recovery, and permanent sobriety.  The Chrysalis House can be funded with self pay, or it can be paid for with insurance through High Mark Health and Living, Humana Insurance Plans and Policies, Health Smart Insurance, Cooks Children's and Adult’s Health Plan and First Care Approach, American Family Health Insurance, ComPsych Health Plan PPO, The Managed Health Network, America’s Health Insurance Plans, and The Health Net Insurance Plan.  The Chrysalis House also offers aftercare programs too, which do their part to help ensure that the graduated clients of the Chrysalis House do not relapse after they complete the program and resume adult life.
