The McGahan Center is the Gavin Foundation’s inpatient program for adults with substance use disorder, located in Quincy, Massachusetts. The sixty-four-bed facility provides short-term, medically monitored care through two levels of service, pairing acute treatment for withdrawal with the clinical stabilization that follows. Staffed around the clock by licensed professionals, the center is focused on helping individuals safely begin recovery and move on to continued treatment.
Acute Treatment Services
The center’s Acute Treatment Services provide medically monitored withdrawal for adults beginning their recovery, with an average length of stay of four to seven days. Admissions are accepted twenty-four hours a day through licensed medical staff, allowing individuals to enter care when they are ready. During this stage, the emphasis is on safely managing withdrawal while stabilizing each person and strengthening their motivation to continue the recovery process.
Clinical Stabilization Services
Following acute treatment, Clinical Stabilization Services offer a longer period of structured support, averaging around fourteen days. This stage builds on the initial stabilization through education, motivational interventions, and case management designed to prepare individuals for the next step in their care. A central goal of the program is linking each person to continued treatment options so that progress made at the McGahan Center carries forward into ongoing recovery.
