The Nixa Outpatient Clinic is part of Heartland Center for Behavioral Change’s network of outpatient sites across southwest Missouri, located in Nixa, Missouri. It treats adults for alcohol and drug use disorders on an outpatient basis, with attendance calibrated to the individual and ranging anywhere from daily to monthly. Heartland is a nonprofit organization, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
Assessment Before Placement
A client’s first contact with the program is a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, conducted together by a licensed mental health professional and a qualified substance use disorder professional. Its purpose is to establish what the person needs, and those findings become the individual treatment plan and dictate which level of care the client enters, a choice made collaboratively rather than imposed. Heartland does not fix a length of treatment ahead of time, on the grounds that individuals advance at varying rates and that care measured by the person rather than by a preset schedule yields better results.
The Shape of Treatment
Clients see counselors individually and meet in counseling groups, with structured education groups rounding out the clinical side. Peer support services are available, community support assistance covers needs that arise outside sessions, and clients are pointed toward self-help groups. The clinic also provides medication assistance. Involving family members in a client’s treatment is encouraged, and each person delivering services is certified or licensed by the Missouri Credentialing Board or the relevant professional body.
Payment and the Rest of the Network
Heartland commits to serving people regardless of their ability to pay and makes a reduced fee schedule, calculated from household income and size, available on request. Municipal, county, state, and federal partners fund a substantial share of the organization’s operations. Beyond Nixa, Heartland maintains southwest Missouri clinics in Springfield, Branson, Bolivar, Cassville, and Reeds Spring, and it operates inpatient withdrawal management and residential programs around Kansas City.
